Our first vacation together was to Napa Valley while were dating back in 2013. Then we got married in Napa in 2014. And the rest is history I guess! This is a very special place to us that has many memories tied to it🍷🍇

Wine Wednesday: 4 Go-To Wines!

Happy Wine Wednesday!

This is the first post in my series of “Wine Wednesday” posts. I decided it would be fun to do a weekly post about wine since I know a thing or two about it. You might see posts about Napa trips, bargain wines, the best wines in different price points, wine clubs to join, etc. If you have any special requests or questions about wine, let me know because I would be happy to help 🙂

This week, I wanted to talk about 4 of my “go-to” wines. These are not necessarily my favorite wines, but they are affordable and very solid selections. If I am looking for a good wine to bring to a party or if I want to open up something casual in the middle of the week, I typically grab one of these! I have not had a bad experience with any of these wines.

Four Go-To Wines! Affordable and delicious wines!

The best part? You can find several of these for $10 or less at your local grocery store! In Texas, I would either go to Kroger or HEB. Other stores that would carry these wines would be Bakers, Target, Hy-Vee, etc.

Whites

  • Rodney Strong Charlotte’s Home Sauvignon Blanc: This is a great summer wine! It is light and refreshing. It is very much a dry wine, but it is very drinkable even for people who might like sweeter wines. You will definitely find me sipping on this wine during the hot Houston summers!

  • Clos du Bois North Coast Chardonnay: I think this wine is a STEAL. Last year, I found this wine at Costco for $7 per bottle. I stocked up because this wine is good! Good wine for $7!? Yep. Chardonnay is by far my favorite white wine. I think this is still really refreshing and a great summer wine. If you are looking for something more dry, this might be for you. It is a classic Chardonnay and you can’t beat the price.

Reds

  • Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon: My husband and I discovered this Cabernet when we went out for dessert one night. It was super random, but we ordered a glass of this and ended up really liking it. We liked it even more once we saw the price at the store! Now, if you are a big Cab drinker, this may not be for you. This is a medium-bodied Cabernet and it is more fruit forward than a lot of other Cabernets. It is very smooth and gentle. It is not super dry or in-your-face. I typically do prefer the bigger and bolder Cabernets, but now and then, this one is a great alternative! If you are new to Cabernets and want to ease your way in, this is a GREAT choice.

  • Alexander Valley Sin Zin Zinfandel: I can’t say enough good things about this wine. This is by far one of my favorite Zinfandels and it is very affordable. I always try to have a bottle on hand! It is not sweet or jammy (some Zins are). To me, it is a classic Zinfandel and you get so many flavors and spices in it. This wine has great dimension to it, and I find myself getting different flavors with each sip! Also, this is one of our favorite wineries to visit so we like to support them 🙂

I hope I inspired someone to pick out something other than a bottle of Yellow Tail. Grab one of these bottles and impress your friends at your next get-together! Cheers!
