Our first vacation together was to Napa Valley while were dating back in 2013. Then we got married in Napa in 2014. And the rest is history I guess! This is a very special place to us that has many memories tied to it🍷🍇

Looking forward to see what the next 10 years has in store! Love doing life with you @alexgrivna 🥰😘

Dining Table – Round 2

Hello again! I feel like it has been forever since I have posted. How was everyone’s Fourth of July weekend? We spent a lot of time by our pool and visited with friends and family. Poor Alex was sick with strep throat for a few days – I felt horrible that he had to miss out on some of the fun! It is never fun to be sick over the holidays. Despite that bump in the road, everyone still had a good time! I think everyone is in need of a major detox after all of the alcohol consumption – haha!

One thing that Alex and I have been working on the last few weeks is building another table. Someone local had reached out to me about wanting a table built, so we decided to go for it. It is another Restoration Hardware copycat table – that place gives us the best ideas for our projects! I love their tables, but their prices are outrageous.

The obvious challenge for us is that this was a round table. We had never built a round table before, so I was a little nervous about that. Alex did such a good job with it, though!

We bought all of the wood from Home Depot, and Alex did all of the cutting and building for this project. The diameter of the table was 42″ for reference.

This is what the top looked like before we cut it into a circle. We traced where we needed to cut before we actually cut the circle.

The bottom part of the build was not as hard as the top. It was very similar to the dining table we built a few months.

I did the staining for this project. I played around with several different colors – I was trying to get a more natural finish. I ended up mixing a darker stain (Espresso) with mineral spirits. The mineral spirits diluted the stain and made it a lot lighter and less harsh.

I stained the bottom of the table first so I could be sure to get the appropriate color and finish. This is a picture of the bottom.

After staining the table (I only did 1 coat), I put a coat of polyurethane on the table. After that dried for 1 day, I did some pretty intense sanding on the table to give it more of that natural, distressed look. I LOVE the way it turned out.

This was the final product. I don’t have any pretty pictures of it in our house because it isn’t our table! I did test it out with our chairs, though.

Overall, this was a fun and challenging project for us. I am really glad that we built a table like this. If you have any specific questions about the details of the build, feel free to contact me.

I am looking forward to doing a few other projects this summer. We are planning on building an outdoor end table with an umbrella hole (because we need shade!). I also want to build new nightstands for our guest bedroom, so stay tuned for some other projects!

Alex and I are not sure if we are going to turn this hobby into a side business. I think we might sell a few things here and there, but I don’t want it to be consuming every free second we have!

What are your thoughts on the dining table? Would you like to have something like this in your house?
