New York Sour

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz whiskey or bourbon
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ oz simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 oz dry red wine (Merlot or Cabernet would be ideal)
  • orange peel or slice for garnish

Method
 

  1. Combine the egg white, simple syrup, lemon juice and bourbon in a cocktail shaker. Shake it thoroughly for 1 minute without ice.
  2. Add ice to the cocktail shaker and shake for 30 seconds.
  3. Strain the drink into a lowball cocktail glass filled with ice.
  4. Top the drink with a splash of red wine.
  5. Optional: Garnish with an orange slice or orange peel.
