Our first vacation together was to Napa Valley while were dating back in 2013. Then we got married in Napa in 2014. And the rest is history I guess! This is a very special place to us that has many memories tied to it🍷🍇

Looking forward to see what the next 10 years has in store! Love doing life with you @alexgrivna 🥰😘

Valentine’s Day Dinner At Home

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone is enjoying their day and eating a piece of chocolate or two.

We are going to be cooking dinner at home tonight, and I am really excited about that.

The past few years, we have gone out on Valentine’s Day because that is what we thought we were supposed to do. After last year, we decided we were done going out on Valentine’s. We never have a great experience, it is too crowded, and I don’t love the pre-set menus.

Last year we went to Flemings Steakhouse (which I love on any other day), but it was way too crowded and they even set-up additional tables to pack more people in. It was the opposite of romantic, and I am sure we walked out of there with a $300+ bill. If you really want to splurge on a night out, just go a different night! I promise you will enjoy it more.

Since we have good wine at home already, we are just going to cook steaks at home this year! This is what we are planning on having tonight:

  • Filets on the grill
  • Salad (probably Caesar Salad – recipe linked here)
  • Green Beans with olive oil and salt

We made a similar meal to this over Thanksgiving – we love our steak and green beans!

If you are going to cook a steak at home and want to splurge a little on a wine, here are a few recommendations:

  • Jordan Cabernet
  • Mt. Veeder Cabernet
  • Silver Oak Cabernet
  • Nickel and Nickel Cabernet
  • “The Discussion” by Duckhorn
  • “Tapestry” by BV

I am pretty sure you could find most of these at the grocery store or a wine store. Some might be harder to find that others. We have collected some of these nicer bottles from our Napa trips, and we try to save them for a holiday or special occasion.

Another great thing about cooking at home is that you can drink while you cook. Make it fun and mix up a cocktail while cooking with your loved ones. Cooking shouldn’t be stressful!

If you want some other meal inspiration for Valentine’s, check out some of my recipe posts below:

  • Flank Steak and Caesar Salad
  • Shrimp Creole
  • Pizzas
  • Brown-Butter Scallops

Anyways, just thought I would share our Valentine’s Day plans! Nothing super glamorous, but I am excited for a change of pace. I am sure I will be in my pajamas at 6 PM! 🙂

Cheers!
